
Daniel Halperin
Attorney
Daniel J. Halperin, an attorney at Sequor Law, focuses his practice on corporate bankruptcy, financial restructuring, and a range of insolvency matters, both within the United States and across international borders.
Prior to joining Sequor Law, Daniel provided legal representation to a diverse group of stakeholders, including debtors, debtors-in-possession (DIP), DIP lenders, committees, secured and unsecured creditors, foreign representatives, trustees, asset purchasers and other parties in interest. His experience extends to cases filed under chapters 7, 11, and 15 of the Bankruptcy Code.
Daniel earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a member of the Charles C. Papy Jr. Moot Court Board and the University of Miami Business Law Review. During his time in law school, he was recognized with several accolades, including membership in the Order of the Barristers, the Cali Excellence for the Future Award in Reorganization in Bankruptcy, the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award in Evidence and Secured Transactions.
In 2024, Daniel was appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Claims and Priorities Subcommittee of the Business Bankruptcy Committee under the Business Law Section for the American Bar Association.
In addition to his legal education, Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Herbert School of Business at the University of Miami. His MBA studies included concentrations in Mergers and Acquisitions as well as International Business.
Daniel is also an alumnus of the University of Central Florida, where he completed his undergraduate studies and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

- Represented the asset purchaser in acquisition of a timeshare condominium and interval ownership interests from chapter 11 debtor under liquidating plan for redevelopment into hotel.
- Represented the junior and senior debtor-in-possession lenders in obtaining court-approval of post-petition loan facilities totaling USD 13 million and priming liens for funding working capital and construction costs to complete construction on USD 125 million student-housing project in Gainesville, Florida.
- Represented the floorplan lender in chapter 11 reorganization of limited partnerships operating automotive dealerships in Texas, including a contested confirmation of chapter 11 plan to restructure approximately USD 135 million in secured and unsecured debt.
- Represented the indenture trustee on behalf of bondholders holding more than USD 35 million in debt in successfully appointing a receivership over an assisted living and memory care facility to raise additional capital and complete construction of the premises.
- Represented the nation’s largest minority owned and operated linen supplier in contested confirmation of chapter 11 plan to restructure approximately USD 7.5 million in secured and unsecured debt.
- Represented prominent Colombian family in successfully opposing the post-confirmation committee’s motion to intervene in an ongoing adversary proceeding filed by the liquidating trustee seeking approximately USD 50 million in damages for various business torts and avoidance actions.
- Represented the former majority shareholders of a contract research organization in their individual chapter 11 reorganization and related adversary proceedings against their senior secured lender seeking to recover USD 40 million in damages for lender liability.
- Represented the hotel owner and landlord in the operator’s chapter 11 reorganization and related adversary proceeding seeking an abatement of approximately USD 3 million in pre- and post-petition rent during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in chapter 11 reorganization of critical access hospitals in Kentucky.
- Represented the developer and manufacturer of 3D television technology in seeking a preliminary injunction against its senior secured lender in Delaware Chancery Court to prevent the lender’s hostile takeover and enforcement of an agreement transferring substantially all of the company’s assets.
- Represented an unsecured creditor in contesting recognition of Canadian insolvency proceedings of global supplier of theme park attractions and rides, as a foreign main proceeding.
- Represented a research-based pharmaceutical company as an unsecured creditor in chapter 7 liquidation of a leading manufacturer of specialty pharmaceuticals in the United States.
- Represented the senior secured lender in chapter 11 reorganization of transportation services company and debtor-affiliates restructuring approximately USD 50 million in secured and unsecured debt.
